Wheel Chair with Patient Monitoring System is something that helps people with lower limb impairment to be more independent in doing their day to day activities. The person can remotely operate his wheelchair using a smart phone, hereby enabling free movement in and around the house without the assistance of a second person. The wheel chair is also equipped with a patient monitoring system, which constantly monitors the 9 vital sciences. When any abnormality is detected it alerts the caretaker by sending a message and also sends the geo-location to a website which searches the nearby hospitals and ambulance services, and alerts them. It also has an on-board obstacle avoidance system which stops the wheel chair automatically when an obstacle is detected, even if the patient fails to apply brakes.

Our Motivation: The sight of a disabled kid unable to move around in the wheelchair without the assistance of another person was the main source of motivation. The kid happened to be a 11 year old boy Kevin Ruben who suffers from polio. He couldn’t move around without the assistance of another person. This project was given to him as his 12th birthday present

In recent years smart metering of electricity demand has attracted attention around the world. A number of countries and regions have started deploying new metering systems; and many others have set targets for deployment or are undertaking trials. Across the board advances in technology and international experience characterize the metering landscape as a fast-changing one. These changes are taking place at a time when increasing emphasis is being placed on improving the efficiency of energy markets, enhancing security of supply and in unlocking the benefits of energy and carbon savings. Innovative forms of metering can be a useful in achieving an active demand-side and moving beyond a supply-focused sector.

The billing process of electricity consumption which we are using at present is very long and requires lot of man power. This is error prone and also time and labour consuming. Errors get introduced at every stage of energy billing like errors with electro- mechanical meters, human errors while noting down the meter reading and error while processing the paid bills and the due bills. There are many cases where the bill is paid and then is shown as a due amount in the next bill. There is no proper way to know the consumer's maximum demand, usage details, losses in the lines, and power theft.

To overcome all the difficulties present in the system, we are introducing fully automated billing process. In this process front-end is user friendly and can be operated easily by having minimum computer knowledge. The billing process depends on the consumer i.e. weather it is prepaid energy billing or postpaid energy billing, which could be titled.

There are clear results from many countries, where prepaid system has reduced the wastage by a large amount. Advantage of this system is that the human errors made in reading meters and processing bills can be reduced to a large extent and also the cost of labour is also reduced. The consumer can also track the electricity consumed in the past, which will help him monitor his power consumption with the help of his smart phone.

The eye-tracking system captures an infra-red image of the user’s eye using a motion sensing digital camera with an infrared light filter that blocks visible light. An infra-red LED light is used to illuminate the subject’s face. We use Infrared light rather than visible light, in order to minimize user discomfort and maximize the size of the pupil. The resultant images are processed using an open source software, which captures the dark and bright pixels (plus an adjustable threshold) by which we can isolate the pupil, or the dark center of the eye, and a bright glint.

The relative positions of the pupil and glint are calculated which provides a translation matrix to screen coordinates through a calibration process. Now, the image is converted into bright and dark binary images, which clearly gives the pupil and glint. These images the generate co-ordinates which are then fed to the computer to move the cursor accordingly.

It often happens in hospitals that the wrong medicine is administered to the patient. It can be due to various reasons, one of which is the wrong medicines being fed into the patient's cabinet. MedSafe comes into play here. MedSafe is medicine cabinets that can only be accessed by authorized personnel. It ensures safety and compliance in medicine administration.

The cabinet is connected to the internet and communicates through an application on a tablet. A bin (a patient's medicine storage area) cannot be opened unless the nurse authorized is actually tagged to the patient, and it's time to refill the bin. The data of access times, failed attempts and everything else is stored in a database for compliance purposes.

This project is aimed at developing a Smart Card system which a “One card for all”. This card can be used for cashless transactions, in-out logs, and also doubles up as an ID card. The mode of communication chosen is NFC(Near Field Communication), the reason being it is cheap and not only are they modern, these devices can save some data on them and don’t require any power source.
